[WHat is she doing?? Texting him??? Oh god, he gave her his name, of course she'd be able to find him, oh great, great, like he needed any reminders of totally going out of his mind when he was drugged by FOX CULTISTS, oh boy!! This is totally not great!!!]
[But he has to answer, because who knows what she would do if he didn't.]
Their library was fantastic! I learned a great deal about their barrier, about the political division between the cultists we met before and the majority stance of the city, and about the local culture. Honestly, I wish I could have taken some of the books back...
[It's a copy of The Grapes of Wrath by one John Steinbeck, along with a note.]
Considering that whole misunderstanding when we first met, I think it's only fair to let you read the book that shares your Ability's name. Let me know if you enjoy it.
[Steinbeck is going to receive a clipboard with a notepad and an attached pen on a cord. Well, he wasn't sure what to give Steinbeck, so he stuck to practical stuff.
Steinbeck,
Happy Firialia. Thank you, again, for that time you helped me.
[Lovecraft doesn't typically celebrate holidays, but he can make an exception every now and then. Firialia is the Prismatican equivalent of Christmas from his understanding, and he knows how much Steinbeck enjoys Christmas. So once they've begun their morning routine in their humble little villa, Lovecraft emerges from a side room to greet Steinbeck in the kitchen with a bouquet of crystalline flowers akin to the foliage covering the trees surrounding the village.]
Um. John? [He offers the bouquet over.] Happy...Firialia.
[Emotions over holidays aside, it's been nice to sit and relax here in the villa during their stay in Nevei. It's even nicer when he's staying with someone he knows. It sort of reminds him of their times spent together on missions, whether its been in hotels or dear Rocinante (god, he misses Rocinante), so this doesn't feel at all strange compared to those previous times.]
[He's excited to go check out more of the resort village, about to turn to Lovecraft to tell him to get ready, but is stopped by the sudden appearance of Lovecraft with...is that a bouquet of flowers?]
...Lovecraft?
[Lovecraft is not the type to give gifts, he knows that, which makes this all the more pleasant of a surprise. He gapes for a moment, before taking the bouquet in hand, his cheeks a little red.]
[Lovecraft's less nervous about the entire exchange than one might expect. He definitely seems pleased by Steinbeck's reaction, though. Gifts are supposed to be surprising, right?]
I was approached by a florist while I was exploring the shops. She said...that these are the perfect Firialia gift for someone you cherish. So...I bought some.
[In reality, the florist basically steamrolled him into buying them. Poor Lovecraft, unable to handle sales pitches when Steinbeck's not around. But he's kind of glad he got pressured into it now.]
[Atsushi ended up not wrapping his present to Steinbeck, because wrapping flowers is difficult. Instead, he just carries it in his arms as he goes to Steinbeck's place and knocks on the door.]
[Atsushi has a slight tendency to spoil people when he has the excuse, which is why the box that arrives on Steinbeck's doorstep is almost comically large. It contains:
-Several books on Prismatica's native flora, including advice for growing some in your garden. -At least a dozen seeds of various Lunatian flowers. -An unusually shaped flowerpot. -A card, on which is written in Atsushi's neat handwriting:
"Happy birthday. Here's to a sunny year for you: I know mine will be brighter for having you in it. -Nakajima Atsushi"]
you asked for this
Though I guess you aren't really a fox anymore, huh. Has everything faded away?
[At least it... seems innocent enough so far.]

[...]
[This is DEFINITELY not any of those two, but this is DEFINITELY someone he knows. Oh, god. He didn't expect this whatsoever.]
2/2 i sure did ask for this
[But he has to answer, because who knows what she would do if he didn't.]
Hi, Anastasia.
I'm no longer a fox, you got that right.

Just Ana is fine, we got to know each other well enough for that. [H E H.]
But good! How're you feeling now?
[This is 30% actual concern, and 70% just trying to make things worse.]
no subject
I'm feeling more like myself, that's for sure.
Guess you can't call me Foxboy anymore.

But did you learn anything about how we can get out of this place?
