[Lapis only saw Steinbeck the other day, but things change so quickly nowadays - the news of the quarantine on Westerly is one of these changes. Most people Lapis really cares about are away from there, but there's someone who isn't.]

[He certainly didn't expect this. He's a busy guy, what with the quarantine dropping down and the pressure from the Resistance getting that much higher, so it takes him a while to answer. When he comes back, he finds five more messages than he remembers.]

i'm alright. i'm with my sister still. [It probably doesn't help that her sisters worsening symptoms is causing her nerves to be even more shaken.]

pretty chaotic, lots of people in need of help. just trying to aid people where i can! a lot of people need faith, in a time like this. i'm getting by as best as i can.

Well, this evening took a horrible turn.

My family's attorney as been trying to find any excuse to take away my inheritance. This time, he had gone too far. He tried to harm a little girl that's been in my care for a month now.

I intervened and protected both of us from harming us. Unfortunately, the end result was quite messy, sort of speak.

He's no longer a problem if only because he won't be getting back up anytime soon.

[It takes a moment for him to respond. He can easily surmise what she's getting at, which is really not a big deal for him, but must be a big deal for her. Killing a man isn't something you can equally back down from. It's fine, though - Steinbeck isn't the slightest bit upset. A man like that had to die.]

if the problem is fixed, then i can't say the solution was bad at all. serves him right for trying to hurt you and that girl.

want me to come over and discuss it in person? i can help clean up if you need me to.
